Neuroscientist Portrait Project
This project was created in the Fall of 2016 and debuted at the Society for Neuroscience conference in November. On the days that this project was photographed and brought to fruition, there was a celebratory air and a sense of hope that this generation of scientists could begin to express themselves freely. Then, a week before the debut, a new president was elected and the project felt much more controversial. In a day and age where the rights of the marginalized are still up for debate and when fellow scientists decry activism as a distraction, it was an act of strength that these scientists continued to share their stories with the world. We hope this project inspires you to share your stories too.
